BBC’s Frozen Planet leads to a surge in Antarctic holidays
The popularity of the BBC’s new documentary, Frozen Planet has led to an increase in people wanting to visit Antarctica.
Latin America and Antarctica specialists, Chimu Adventures, have reported a boost in Antarctica enquiries due to the amazing Frozen Planet documentary series, which has been shown on the BBC recently.
The seven part nature series, narrated by David Attenborough, focuses on the landscapes and wildlife in the extreme poles of our planet, during the different seasons of the year. It also documented the challenges facing polar bears and arctic wolves in the north and adelie and emperor penguins and in the south. The series shows some of the most impressive landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic that have ever been shown before on television and also captures some of the most amazing wildlife scenes.
UK office manager, Gemma Anderson, says the amazing images seen on the programme have generated a great deal of interest in Antarctica with enquiries streaming in. She continues,
“We have seen a definite increase in Antarctica enquiries and bookings over the last two months which directly relates to the Frozen Plant documentary series shown on the BBC. The stunning scenery and wildlife seen on the programme are certainly accessible with the many Antarctic expeditions we offer and many of our passengers have told us that this was their prime motivator for wanting to cruise to the Great White Continent.”
Chimu Adventures offers several expedition cruises to Antarctica including 11 day classic itineraries to 20 day in-depth trips including South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
