Free cycling events in the Peak District
Planning a cycling holiday in the Peak District National Park this summer? Why not take advantage of one of the many free cycling events in the area.
Aiming to get more people into the saddle, Pedal Peak District, a cycling project run by the Peak District National Park Authority, is holding free events throughout July.
The project offers new and returning cyclists to take part in any of the free events, which are run by expert cycling guides.
The events also include a guided bike ride with the Peak District National Park Authority's landscape architect Garrie Tiedman on 28 July. Cyclists will learn how the national park landscape has been formed by humans and nature over many hundred years.
Carol Parsons, organiser of the Pedal Peak District events, said: 'Not only are we hoping to help beginners get 'back on the bike', but we also have a sociable ride for women only, aiming to build cycling confidence and fitness.'
With the Tour de France well underway in the French countryside, these free cycling events give cyclists the chance to pedal through some of the UK's most beautiful scenery.
