Free Lake District cycling events
Visitors to the Lake District will enjoy free cycling activities this summer.
The 'Passport 2 Pedalling' programme is a joint venture between Cumbria Tourism and some of the country's best cycling instructors.
The scheme is part of a broader programme to get Cumbria recognised as the UK's leading adventure holiday destination.
Running most of the activities, CycleActive has planned something for everyone. From 30-minute training sessions for beginners to half-day rides through some of the Lake District's most spectacular scenery.
Commenting on the many different wheeled activities Chris Ford, Director of CycleActive, said: 'We wanted to come up with things that everyone could do that would offer great training and great fun at the same time.'
The many free cycling activities taking place in the area during the summer are also expected to kick-start the Passport 2 Pedalling Cycle Challenge. The challenge is to cycle 2,012 miles before the London 2012 Olympic Games are kicked off.
