Valderrama
Located in Andalucia, Valderrama Golf Club on the Costa del Sol is home to a renowned 18-hole course that was designed in the 1970s. The course hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup and is known as one of the country's best golfing spots.
The fairways offer challenging play and although the club is for private members, the par 71 course is open to visitors at certain tee times most days.
PGA Catalunya Resort
The PGA Cataluyna Resort is situated in the Caldes de Malavella area of Catalonia on the Costa Brava and features two 18-hole courses. The Stadium course is known the world over and is likely to feature on your must-play list.

Las Brisas

One of the first European clubs to use bent grass, Las Brisas is an 18-hole tricky play, as there are plenty of bunkers, raised grass sections and water hazards to navigate around, ensuring the course secures one of the best reputations in the area for an exciting game of golf.
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande
Just pipping Las Brisas to one of the top spots for golf in the Andalucia region is Real Club de Golf Sotogrande - an 18-hole course founded in 1964. You'll discover large greens and long tees, all set in a scenic location renowned for its natural beauty.
There's also an adjacent nine-hole par three course where golfers have the chance to really perfect their skills.
El Saler
Located near Valencia, El Saler is well known for having one of continental Europe's best laid out golf courses. The varied terrain, elevated greens and length of the course all combine to create a challenging environment that is sure to test even the most experienced golfers.
The setting is also second to none, as the course is situated in a nature reserve on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, so you can always pop over to the beach afterwards to relax.
La Manga Club
If you're heading to the Costa Calida, meanwhile, be sure to visit the La Manga Club, which boasts three 18-hole championship courses. Over the last 40 years, the club has hosted a variety of top events, including five Spanish Opens and the Spanish PGA.
The south course has a par of 73, the northern alternative is par 71, while the western course has a par of 72, so you're sure to find something to challenge you, whatever your abilities on the green. There's also a pitch and putt course with a par of 47 for those who want to work on their short game skills.
