On the 22nd of January 2012 Felicity Aston, explorer, speaker and writer, became the first woman to ski solo across Antarctica. During her journey she skied a total of 1744km, which is the equivalent of skiing from London to Minsk in Belarus. Traversing the continent from the Ross Ice Shelf to the Hercules Inlet, the expedition took Felicity just over 59 days and in total she had to endure 60 days of solitude.
