Bank Holiday activities in the Lake District

Friday, 20 August 2010 12:00 AM

The Lake District is gearing up for a busy August Bank Holiday weekend with a range of events to entertain visitors and a bundle of classic walks to enjoy.

With a large network of walking trails to choose from, the national park is the perfect place to enjoy an active weekend while taking in the events organised throughout the park.

From water adventures to bushcraft and survival skills at the visitor centre at Brockhole, the Lake District offers something for the whole family to enjoy.

Brockhole team leader, Nicky Wood said that the Bank Holiday events were a culmination of six action-packed school holiday weeks.

'We are expecting a busy holiday weekend, but it certainly isn't the end of season and there's plenty to tempt people for the rest of the year.'

Throughout the weekend there are a number of guided walks on offer.

A challenging hike up Wansfell will take place on Friday 27 August, a moderate walk on High Street on Saturday 28 August, the 'Coniston classic' on 29 August and a 'Blencatha vista special' on 30 August.
