Walk Scilly Festival

Friday, 17 February 2012 5:27 PM

The UK’s most South Westerly walking festival - Walk Scilly - is due to take place across the islands between March 31st and April 6th. The festival is now in its sixth year and will see participants taking part in a variety of walking activities across the Scillies.

Throughout the week there are many organised walks, ranging from the easy going, to strenuous and taking in various aspects of the islands' individual character. The walks will cover a range of themes, which introduce visitors to the formation and structure of the landscape as well as the different flora and fauna that can be found there.

A walk across the sand flats between Tresco, Samson and Bryher giving you a chance to investigate the marine life that the low tide reveals and a hike across Chapel Down, with its prehistoric and medieval remains will allow you to observe the sky at night free from light and industrial pollution

Alongside the walks, there are talks, museum open evenings, cookery demos and live music. There will also be star gazing evenings and photography classes, concentrating on capturing the Islands’ natural beauty.

One of Walk Scilly's sponsors - St Mary's Hall Hotel - is running a Walk Scilly promotion, which includes Dinner, 3 nights Bed and Breakfast, return flights from Lands End, a ticket to the opening gala buffet, and inclusion in one of the organised walks from £401 per person.
