Take part in fantastic watersports and social sailing on a beach holiday in Greece

Wednesday, 27 July 2011 12:39 PM

If you're looking to take part in fantastic adventure activities while soaking up the Mediterranean sun, watersports holidays in Greece are sure to tick all the right boxes.

By coming here for a Beach Club break, you'll have the chance to try your hand at a wide range of sports - from waterskiing to mountain-biking. However, it is perhaps the top-quality sailing that really makes the country stand out as a great place for you to have a go at some active pursuits.

Indeed, people have been coming to Greece in order to go on flotilla sailing holidays for many years so there will be lots of opportunities for you to get out to sea and have fun.

But even if you have never so much as set foot onboard a boat in your life before, you'll still be able to get plenty out of a holiday here.

You'll be in the company of like-minded travellers who also have an interest in sailing and other watersports, so whether you're a total novice or have a bit more experience you can learn together and share tips and stories with one another. Indeed, you may end up socialising and forming lifelong friendships with your fellow holidaymakers before you know it!

Whatever level of experience you have, you'll have the chance to go on sailing courses run by instructors who are accredited by the RYA. This is the UK's national association for all forms of boating, so you can rest assured that under the watchful eye of your tutors you can not only have fun in the water but will be able to stay safe while doing so.

Depending on your skills and aspirations, you may want to learn how to navigate a dinghy for the first time or take a three-day flotilla training course. You could even learn how to skipper a vessel and navigate your own path through the Ionian Sea to islands such as Meganissi and Kalamo.

No matter what you decide to get up to, at all times you'll always be surrounded by enchanting scenery and crystal-clear water, so you'll be afforded some stunning sights during the course of watersports holidays in the country, regardless of your experience, age or interests.

However, this is by no means the only activity that you'll be able to have a go at during the course of your Beach Club holiday in the Mediterranean.

Indeed, there will be the opportunity to try windsurfing - with classes available for both adults and kids - and with expert instructors on hand you may be carving up the waves in next to no time.

Alternatively, you may wish to go waterskiing. If you're a total beginner, a coach will aim to get you to be able to stand up in the water on your skis while being carried along by a boat. However, if you're looking to take things to the next level, you'll get the chance to learn how to master wake crossings and mono skiing.

Wakeboarding, swimming and ringo rides are just some of the other adrenalin-pumping activities that you'll be able to partake in here so there'll be lots to keep you occupied.

If you fancy taking a break from sailing during your trip in Greece, why not explore the world beneath the waves and go scuba diving or snorkelling? Take one of the many courses run by staff holding qualifications from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and you'll get the chance to see beautiful coral reef formations and amazing marine wildlife.

But there will be plenty of things for you to see and do back on dry land, including tennis, mountain-biking and hiking, so even if you're not the biggest fan of watersports there's no need for you to worry that you'll get bored.

Of course, it's important to spend part of your break taking it easy, so why not take some time to relax on the beach or onboard your sailboat by chatting with fellow holidaymakers or indulging in a pampering session?

Take a beach holiday to Greece and you'll find that there are so many socialising opportunities and fantastic activities for you to take part in, that the experience is likely to be one you will remember for many years to come.
