Eden Valley, set in the UK’s Lake District region is set to become Britain’s first sustainable and low impact tourism destination and a popular place to visit.
The project, created by Nurture Eden, an organisation set up to protect Cumbria’s landscape and environment, aims to include the areas around the towns of Penrith, Bough, Orton, Shap, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Alston, as well as stretching across part of the North Pennines.
Nuture Eden intend to create the sustainable and low impact tourism destination by supporting tourism businesses in the Eden Valley in order to improve their environmental practices; facilitate the creation of low impact holidays based around Eden’s unique attributes of a local green infrastructure; creating conservation projects; and to encourage low impact activities such as walking, cycling and nature-based tourism.
There are already many low impact tourism adventures in Eden and with snow already falling this winter; Eden is a great spot for winter sports too.
