World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo
From the 10th-19th February, Olso will be hosting the World Snowboarding Championships. The best snowboards from around the globe will be gathering in the Norwegian capital next week to compete for snowboarding titles.
Held in the new Wyller multi arena in Oslo Winter Park 240 riders from over 30 countries will be taking part in the events. The competition will feature both slopestyle and halfpipe competitions as well as a quarterpipe competition at the Holmenkollen ski jump, where Terje Haakonsen has invited 20 snowboarding stars to try to beat his world record of 9.8 meters.
Some of the world’s elite snowboarders have been confirmed for the event, including three times TTR World Tour winners Peetu Piiroinen from Finland and Jamie Anderson from the USA. 2012 X-Games winners Mark McMorris and Torstein Horgmo will also be competing, as well as Olympic gold medallist Kelly Clark.
The championships are created by independent snowboard event organisers, nations and competitive snowboarders themselves and aim to show a display of global youth culture and snowboarding lifestyle as well as just snowboarding competitions.
